He sent a man before them.

Psalm 105:16-20, And He called for a famine upon the land; He broke the whole staff of bread. He sent a man before them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave. They afflicted his feet with fetters, he himself was laid in irons; until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the LORD tested him. The king sent and released him, the ruler of peoples, and set him free.

The story of Joseph doesn’t really sound like good news. Fortunately, God’s ways are not our ways, His thoughts are far above our own. He had a purpose behind everything that happened. And He is the One who has taken the “foolishness of the cross” and used it to bring us home to Him. Through it He has set us captives free and brought us into His light!

We thank You for sending Jesus before us, to rescue us from the power of sin and death!
