The third day.
Luke 13:31-32, Just at that time some Pharisees came up, saying to Him, "Go away and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill You." And He said to them, "Go and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I reach My goal.'"
Jesus clearly knew what lay ahead for him. Some seem to think that His death was a great tragedy; indeed it was, but not in the sense that they think. He came to deliver us from the tragedy of sin and death, something that we could never do on our own. And not only that, He showed the world the power of God the Holy Spirit, whom He would bestow upon those who believe in Him. He who had the power to do anything He desired "set His face like a flint" towards Jerusalem and the cross, desiring not to save Himself but all of us. We who receive Him by faith are set free from the power of sin and death and impelled by the power of His Holy Spirit!
Thank You for setting us free from sin and death; thank You for Your Holy Spirit who empowers us today! Come, Holy Spirit!
