Fire.
Luke 12:49-50, "I have come to cast fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!"
John the Baptist told the people that he baptized with water, but the One greater than he would baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire. And on the day of Pentecost, indeed there were tongues of flame, "as of fire" upon those gathered waiting to receive His promise. Ordinary fire brings energy in the form of light and heat; His fire brings the light of His good news into the darkness.
Lord, light our lamps with Your Holy Spirit and fire, that we may bring light into this dark world.
