Everyone who believes is freed.
Acts 13:38-41, Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses. Beware, therefore, lest what is said in the Prophets should come about: “‘Look, you scoffers, be astounded and perish; for I am doing a work in your days, a work that you will not believe, even if one tells it to you.’ ”
Scoffers abounded in Paul’s day, and they abound today. The simple truth is quite amazing, that God has granted us forgiveness of sins, freedom which cannot be obtained by our own works of righteousness. When we look to Jesus, we are saved, justified and made upright before a Holy God! “Nothing to the cross I bring, simply to the cross I cling.” It is humiliating, for He has done it all for those who will come to Him!
We thank You for our freedom that is totally from You, O Lord! The Son has set us free indeed!
