Grace and truth.

John 1:14-18, And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’ ”) And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

The law given by Moses is a standard that exposes the great need of fallen children for his great mercy. The old covenant could only look forward to the promised mercy to come through the seed or the offspring no fulfilled in Jesus Christ. For it is by grace we are saved through faith, and we who receive him have become his children, born of his spirit. What opportunities are there for us today as we walk in those good works that he has prepared for us?

Guide our steps today that we may follow you into those good works you have prepared for us, to bring glory to your name!
