Enter by the narrow gate.

Matthew 7:13-14, Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

There are many who have been seduced by the idea that there are no absolutes, thinking that this represents something new and wonderful. Really, it is only a return to the time of the book of Judges, where we read in nearly every chapter that “every one did what was right in his own eyes.” The sixties theme “if it feels good do it,” is merely a corollary to that, there is truly nothing new under the sun. The postmodern mindset is to be tolerant of everyone’s own way to God, unless that happens to be the way of the cross of Christ. Jesus made it clear that he is “the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but by me.” This claim is exactly what infuriated those who rose up and cried “Crucify him.” There is no other name by which we may be saved but the name of Jesus!

Lead us today, that we may keep our eyes on you and obey your commandments!
