The day of my burial.

John 12:7-8, Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my burial. For the poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me.”

Both Matthew and Mark record that Mary’s action would be remembered wherever the Gospel is preached. She gave it as a sacrificial offering out of her love for Jesus and all that he had done as they celebrated with her brother Lazarus, raised from the dead. And yet within the week, Jesus would come to the day of his own burial. Even when we don’t always understand the importance of our own sacrificial offering, Jesus may choose to multiply it beyond anything we might imagine!

We offer up our sacrifice of praise to you that you may use it for your glory, O Lord!
