“I am the door of the sheep.”

John 10:7-11, So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

David recognized the role of the shepherd, and gave us the twenty-third psalm which has blessed so many. We may not really like the idea of being called sheep, but the history of the world so far is pretty clear that Jesus was right when he observed that we are like sheep without a shepherd. Isaiah saw the day of Jesus coming, for he wrote “all we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned-- every one-- to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” And that is the good news, for when we entry by him, and know his voice, he leads us!

Thank you for laying down your life; we want to know your voice more clearly every day!
