Hosanna!

Mark 11:7-10, And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it. And many spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut from the fields. And those who went before and those who followed were shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!”

Jesus is given this honor as the promised Messiah and King, in the line of David, with shouts of “Hosanna” meaning “save now!” He was recognized as the one of whom all the prophets spoke who would establish his everlasting kingdom. This provoked the religious rulers to warn him about accepting this honor, to which Jesus replied that if the people were silent even the stones would cry out! We recognize him now as the King of King and Lord of Lords, and long for that day when he returns to reign!

Come soon Lord Jesus; use us today in bringing forth your kingdom.
