He will rise.

Mark 10:32-34, And they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them. And they were amazed, and those who followed were afraid. And taking the twelve again, he began to tell them what was to happen to him, saying, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles. And they will mock him and spit on him, and flog him and kill him. And after three days he will rise.”

This had to be shocking and disturbing and astonishing all at the same time to the disciples. They had seen his amazing miracles, understood his parables and recognized him as the Son of God. We know that he had now set his face like a flint towards Jerusalem, to the horrors of the cross and the glory of the resurrection. And yet in the next few verses, we find some of the disciples jockeying for position! How easily are we distracted from the truth and what is most important. Jesus knew that his purpose in being the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world was about to be fulfilled, “for the joy set before him.” Are we able to see beyond the things of this world to his purpose for us and to follow him?

We want to keep our eyes on you as we walk every day, to fulfill the purpose you have for us!
