Tell her to help me.
Luke 10:38-42, But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.”
It’s an interesting juxtaposition, and one that we are all likely to make. Martha recognizes Jesus as Lord, which means that she knows that he is the one who is in control. And in the same sentence she wants to control him, to get him to tell her sister what to do! Might we do better to ask the Lord to reveal what he wants in a given situation before we submit our solution to him?
Give us this day our daily bread; reveal your purpose and will to us in every situation!
