Peace be to this house.

Luke 10:5-6, Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you.

This group of seventy-two were sent out ahead of Jesus to announce that the kingdom of God was near. We have even better news, that Christ has died, Christ is risen and Christ will come again. He who is the Prince of Peace has all of this under control, and he asks us to go forth bearing his peace. We can’t control the response of another person, but we can recognize a son or daughter of peace. We are asked to go forth and tell others of his great gift of grace, and to make disciples. No doubt, we are in the same kind of environment as were the seventy-two, “as lambs amidst the wolves.” Are we able to keep our eyes on the only one who can bring true peace, peace with God, Jesus Christ?

I want to keep my eyes on you, Jesus; to bear your amazing peace that passes all understanding to all who will receive it!
