For our instruction.
1 Corinthians 10:11-12, Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.
We are blessed to have the scripture, showing us the folly of idolatry, thanklessness, lust, putting Christ to the test, and grumbling. Paul urges us to run the race well, to overcome our own weaknesses by the power given to us. They had abundant living, spiritual water from the rock that was Christ that followed them, and we have even more for he has sent us the Holy Spirit, our helper and advocate. He is able to provide us with the strength we don’t have to run the race well and to overcome. Are we keeping our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and receiving his living water, that we may overflow with it today?
We want to feed those things that stir our affections for You, O Lord!
