Paul thanked God and took courage.
Acts 28:15-16, And the brothers there, when they heard about us, came as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us. On seeing them, Paul thanked God and took courage.
We think of Paul as a very strong, independent and tough evangelist, having been beaten, mocked and imprisoned for his faith and boldness in bringing the gospel light into the darkness. And yet we also see the wonderful value of other believers willing to go out of their way to be encouraging to him. Of course he had been personally commissioned by the Lord Jesus and had been filled with the spirit and given amazing gifts. Still, he thanked God and took courage from these other believers. How are we able to encourage those wonderful leaders who have blessed us in our own community?
We thank you for our own pastors, leaders, teachers and elders who have given so much for the gospel on our behalf; give us opportunities to strengthen and encourage them!
