The potter.

Romans 9:18-21, So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills. You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?” But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?

The natural man doesn’t like the idea of God as sovereign, nor does he like the idea of ultimate accountability for his actions by a Holy God. This is a great mystery, beyond our comprehension, how God can be sovereign and also hold us accountable! And yet he gives us the ultimate solution in Jesus Christ, which for those who have received him is a source of great hope, comfort, peace and security. No matter what happens, God is in control!

We thank you that you have revealed the truth of Jesus Christ to those whom you have called and that as we ask, so shall we receive!
