Released from the law.
Romans 7:5-6, For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.
When we come to Christ, we are born again, released from the law of sin and death, and we are commanded to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We are not to dress in a white robe and go stand on a hill somewhere waiting to ascend into heaven; we are to go forth in the joy of the Lord, being led by him in a triumphal procession, to do those good works that he has in store for us! We are to bear his good fruit in a starving world, hungry for the love that only he can offer. What kind of fruit am I bearing?
We abide in your vine, the source of our life and strength, that we may bear good fruit to bring glory to your name, O Lord!
