“Jesus I know.”

Acts 19:15, But the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?”

How amazing is it that the demons know who Jesus is; James tells us that they even believe, and shudder! Some people saw what Paul was doing, with so many miracles of healing that even one of his articles of clothing brought healing by faith to some, and they wanted to enjoy the same notoriety by invoking the name of Jesus. His name is not some magical token, some “rabbits foot” that one may rub for good luck. Paul knew him intimately, far beyond his name, and received him, repented of his own evil and became an adopted son to be used as Jesus desired, “For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.” Are we devoted to the name of Jesus or are we sold out, devoted to receiving all that he has for us? “But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.”

We thank you that by your name we are operating as your adopted sons and daughters to bring your amazing works of light and grace into this dark world.
