Love is the fulfilling of the law.
Romans 13:8-10, Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Jesus recognizes the two great commandments: to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself. He urges us to live well: “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Only through his kind of love will we ever win the right to have the good new message really heard by others. In this fast paced world of text messages, Facebook posts and tweets do we really take the time to get to know someone well enough to share the good news with them? As Paul continues, it is the time to waken from sleep, the hour is nearer than when we first believed. Are we putting on the Lord Jesus Christ and making no provision for the flesh or to gratify its desires?
Help us to keep your priorities clear; to keep the main thing the main thing, to proclaim the name of Jesus in thought, word and deed!
