That he may have mercy on all.
Romans 11:28-32, As regards the gospel, they are enemies of God for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy. For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all.
How amazing that God’s love is not like the idea many have of love: you do what I like and I will love you. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” And even so, God so loved the world that he gave us his only begotten Son, that when we believe in him we receive eternal life. He loves us even before we know or love him; he still loves us when we stumble and fall and he rejoices over us as we turn to him and seek him. What kind of love is this that does not reject the unlovable but seeks and saves the lost?
We thank you that you did not abandon us even when we rejected you and turned against you!
