So that we might receive.

Galatians 3:13-14, Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.

The curse of the law is that no one, not one of us can live perfectly; and those who pretend to are in fact fooling themselves, hence violating the law. The law is designed to show us our great need for help to be able to stand before a perfect, Holy God. Christ is the only one who lived a sinless life and gave it up for us that we might receive the blessing of Abraham. And Christ has sent us another helper, like him, the Holy Spirit!

Come, Holy Spirit, for I need your help today; let me be sensitive to your promptings that I may walk in faith and not by sight!
