“Is this not the reason you are wrong?”
Mark 12:24, Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?”
A group of Sadducees came to Jesus with a rather twisted question; rather than answering it, he goes to the heart of the problem of so many materialists and existentialists today. Many today do not know the scriptures, and yet have strong opinions about spiritual matters. And most because of that, neither do they even begin to comprehend the power of God. Knowing scripture gives us a glimpse of the power of God, most amazingly revealed in the bodily resurrection from the dead of Jesus. What else might he reveal as we come to him in faith?
Increase our faith that we may know the Scriptures and your divine power, O Lord!
