In the Spirit.
Revelation 1:9-10, I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet ...
John had lived to see the other apostles and many other believers subjected to unspeakable evil for their testimony about Jesus Christ and who He is and what He has done for us on the cross. When I face unjustified evil, I know that my natural response is to strike back at others, to seek revenge and to get even. Yet scripture tells us “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” God is in control, and as Joseph told his brother who sold him into slavery, “You intended it for evil, but God use it for good.” Jesus opened not His mouth against His accusers. When we have to deal with unjustified evil against us, we also have the protection of the full armor of God available! Am I willing have the same “patient endurance that are in Jesus” as did John, and be in the Spirit?
Thank You that our battle is not against flesh and blood, and that You cover us with the full armor of God; that You are in control as we accept Your gift of the Spirit and pray in the Spirit, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
