Humble and mounted on a donkey.
Zechariah 9:9, Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Jesus had every right to come into this world in all of His glory; yet He laid aside His eternal glory to be born, live and die as a man yet having no sin and being filled with the Holy Spirit without measure. He who deserves all glory, honor and praise was recognized as Messiah by the very throngs crying out “Hosanna!” to Him. These same cries will turn to the horrific “Crucify Him!” His meekness is not weakness, for He was doing exactly what He saw the Father doing by the power of the Holy Spirit. We who believer in Him know that He has given us His Holy Spirit and that He lives within us! We have a choice, either to grieve the Holy Spirit, or else to seek to do all that He is showing us, to walk in His light and to do the will of the Father. Joshua’s challenge to the people resounds throughout the ages: “Choose this day whom you will serve; as for me and my house, we will server the Lord!”
And as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord, by the power that He has placed within us. You have told us, O Lord, what is good and what You require of us: “But to do justice; to love kindness; and to walk humbly” with You, our God!
