“Slippery paths.”
Jeremiah 23:11-12, “For both prophet and priest are polluted; even in My house I have found their wickedness,” declares the Lord. “Therefore their way will be like slippery paths to them, They will be driven away into the gloom and fall down in it; For I will bring calamity upon them, The year of their punishment,” declares the Lord.”
It seems incredible that there are those who would abuse their position in the house of the Lord to bring deception into the spiritual life of others. Paul warns that there are those who preach the gospel only for personal gain, and others who are only looking for ways to bring temporal riches through the church, so we should not be surprised that there are those who would put up “stumbling blocks” to the children. Jesus says that “It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble.” Are we seeking Him at every step in leading others?
Lord, we want to keep our eyes on You as we walk each day; protect us as we lead others. May we always point the way to You!
