Receiving the Holy Spirit.
Acts 8:14-17, Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, who came down and prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit. For He had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit.
Some years ago, we had a prayer service and an invitation to receive the Holy Spirit at the end. I thought it would be a good idea, thinking of the things that happened in this amazing book. When they laid hands on me, I realized that the Holy Spirit was letting me know that I was getting nothing, partly because I wasn’t using what He had already given me, but mostly because my heart was so black! This did not make me happy, but I began to ask Him to show me what He meant. He helped me to see my own bondage to lust, something that I still struggle with. He is there to convict and to help me whenever I am ready to turn to Him for His help!
Come, Holy Spirit, I need Your help every day; reveal those areas that You want to help me with!
