In their hearts turned back to Egypt.

Acts 7:39-41, “And our fathers were unwilling to be obedient to him, but repudiated him and in their hearts turned back to Egypt, saying to Aaron, ‘MAKE FOR US GODS WHO WILL GO BEFORE US; FOR THIS MOSES WHO LED US OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT—WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM.’ And at that time they made a calf and brought a sacrifice to the idol, and were rejoicing in the works of their hands.”

How easy it is for me to forget the wonderful things that God has done. We have the witness of scripture as well as all He has done for us. The people of that day had just been through an amazing deliverance from oppression and certain death, saved only by the mighty hand of God in parting the waters. Moses was gone only a few days when they rebelled and turned back to their own idols; what a reminder how easy it is to depend upon our own strength.

I need Your strength every day, every step, to turn from temptation and my own ways; lead me to walk in Your way, Lord.
