Great fear.

Acts 5:11, And great fear came upon the whole church, and upon all who heard of these things.

Truly, our God is an awesome God. This scripture is here to remind us of His justice and wrath. It’s easy to focus on His lovingkindness and mercy and to lose sight of His uncompromising righteousness. Scripture tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge. As scripture tells us and many writers have observed, God is awesome, dangerous and an all consuming fire. All we need to understand this fully is the horror of Jesus Christ crucified, in order to be our perfect sacrifice, to satisfy God’s wrath against sin once for all. Our great and all sufficient hope is in recognizing and accepting Jesus Christ as who He says He is, the Way, the Truth and the Life. As we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Jesus Christ has provided us with the only way that we can come into the presence of a perfect, Holy, just and righteous God.

We thank You for Jesus, for raising Him from horrific death on the cross as our perfect atonement, that only in Him can we come boldly before Your throne of grace that we might receive mercy in our time of need.
