One of my teachers made the interesting observation that after Jesus told them that they would be His witnesses after the Holy Spirit came upon them, Peter proceeded to take matters into his own hands and select someone to replace Judas. Matthias was selected by lottery, but we never hear of him again in scripture. How much easier it is to take action that to wait upon the Lord and His direction.
