In order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all goodness and dignity.
1 Timothy 2:1, FIRST of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
Do we really pray like this? Next to thankfulness, I think this is one of the most powerful prayers available. Consider how this played out in Paul’s day, with the prevailing authorities being given over to idolatry! And we get upset because our particular cause lost an election! We must give Him thanks that He overlooks our own faults and honors our requests!
Lord, keep us thankful and humbled to be in Your presence; We need Your tranquility and quiet every day.
