Give no offense.

1 Corinthians 10:32-33, Give no offense either to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God; just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.

Paul's priority was clear: he laid aside his own preferences and his own freedom in order to advance the gospel. We live in a culture that worships freedom, perhaps even turning it into a kind of idolatry. We would do well to consider his advice: "All things are lawful, but not all things edify." Who can deny the importance of another being saved?

Lord, help us to seek not our own good but the good of our neighbor!
