Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies.

1 Corinthians 8:1-3, Now concerning things sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies. If anyone supposes that he knows anything, he has not yet known as he ought to know; but if anyone loves God, he is known by Him.

Even in the natural world, where knowledge has been given a high value in our culture, that knowledge somtimes makes people arrogant. In our own professions, thinking we know it all is dangerous, and there is always room to learn more. How much more true this is in the spiritual realm, for we have but a glimpse into the wisdom of God, by what He has revealed in scripture. What an exciting prospect, to humble ourselves, to be loved by Him who knows us better than we know ourselves!
