But He answered him nothing.

Luke 23:8-9, Now Herod was very glad when he saw Jesus; for he had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had been hearing about Him and was hoping to see some sign performed by Him. And he questioned Him at some length; but He answered him nothing.

Clearly what Herod had heard about Jesus simply stimulated his desire for entertainment. Had he truly been seeking Jesus, he no doubt would have found Him. Instead, we see the ruler of all creation standing with meekness, answering nothing. We often feel that we are required to make some response when we are mocked; perhaps we should seek His wisdom about when to speak and when to remain silent?

Give us Your wisdom about when to speak and when to remain silent, to bring glory to Your name.
