That your faith may not fail.
Luke 22:31-32, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers."
Jesus had no doubt about what would happen with Peter in the night's events, even calling him by his given name instead of the name that Jesus gave him. We could certainly argue that Peter was unfaithful during the night’s events, and yet Jesus made it clear that He was the source of Peter's strength. This is our wonderful hope, for even when we falter as did Peter, we know that He has not given up on us.
We need Your strength; we know that in our own strength our faith cannot stand. We stand only in You, Lord Jesus, by the power of Your Holy Spirit!
