Have you understood all these things?

Matthew 13:51-52, "Have you understood all these things?" They said to Him, "Yes." And He said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old."

Jesus gives us these glimpses of the Kingdom of Heaven, of seed bearing fruit even amidst tares, of an insignificant seed growing into a magnificent tree, of treasure and pearls worth everything we have. In our sophisticated, technological, scientific age perhaps we have lost touch with the simplicity of these things; He calls us to the wonder of sowing and reaping, to selling out for a treasure of incredible value. He is the One who gave up all His glory, to live as we live, to give up His own life "as a ransom for many." Can we capture the view of a child has of His kingdom?

We look with excitement at thee fruit to be brought forth, of the treasure to bring glory to Your name, Lord Jesus!
