Why should I pardon you?

Jeremiah 5:7-9, "Why should I pardon you? Your sons have forsaken Me and sworn by those who are not gods. When I had fed them to the full, they committed adultery and trooped to the harlot’s house. They were well-fed lusty horses, each one neighing after his neighbor’s wife. Shall I not punish these people," declares the LORD, "And on a nation such as this shall I not avenge Myself?"

It seems that things haven’t changed much from the days of Jeremiah’s Israel. I’ve never watched it, but just by the name "Desperate Housewives," it seems to fit with this description. A quick scan of today’s headlines shows that while our technology has made great progress, human hearts have not. How long will the Lord be patient, not wanting any to perish, but wanting all to come to a full knowledge of Him?

Preserve us O Lord, when so many are running after their own desires and lusts, help us to be faithful in seeking You, to be Your witnesses.
