Scoffers will come in the last days.
2 Peter 3:1-4, This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”
Scoffers abounded in Peter’s day, so we should not be surprised that they are still around. Only by the grace of God do we even take our next breath. How do we use that breath, do we use it to denounce the worst in others as compared to our best? Or do we recognize that we who were dead in sin and trespasses, blinded to sin have somehow been awakened by His grace and come to know Him who loved us enough to die for us? Do we love those who are perishing enough to come along side them, to get to know them and to interceded for them before the mighty throne of grace that they, too might receive His great mercy in their time of need?
Keep us from pride and arrogance about the grace that we have received from You and break our hearts for those who do not yet know You, O Lord!
