Make every effort.

1 Peter 1:5-7, For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.

For what reason? We have His divine power, we have through Him escaped the corruption of this world and we have been seated with Him in the heavenly realm! And He gives us the power to draw closer to Him in this life, to grow and become more like Christ. These qualities of virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness and godliness are derided by our culture today. Are we willing to put forth the effort to walk closer to Him, and to grow in these qualities?

We thank You for the power to change, to grow, to become more like You each day, Lord Jesus!
