The book of life.

Revelation 20:15, And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

I once heard one of my friends remark about what a leading deceased atheist would face in coming before the throne of God. As a believer, is our heart broken by this prospect or do we have the spirit of the Pharisee thinking ourselves better than one such as this? Why has He chosen to reveal Himself and His amazing grace to me? Scripture asserts that even our faith is a gift from God, leaving no room for boasting. Who do we know whose name is not written in the book of life? Is this not reason enough to fall on our knees and intercede before the throne of grace that they, too, might receive mercy in their time of need? Have we been with Jesus enough that others might see His joy within us, that they might take note that we, like Peter and John who were bold for the Lord, have been with Jesus?

Thank You for Your promise that as we draw near to You, You will draw near to us, for You are not very far from every one of us!
