Steadfast under trial.
James 1:12, Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
James echoes the beatitudes, wherein Jesus proclaims blessing upon those who mourn, those persecuted for righteousness sake, and those reviled falsely on Jesus account. Steadfastness under trial is counted as testing of our nature, as in striking a proof coin to assure the quality of the die. And the life that we receive is our crown given within His kingdom, for those who love Him. He makes His wisdom and power available to us by the power of His Holy Spirit, if only we will ask in faith believer that we receive!
We thank You that we live not by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, and that You strengthen us in temptation as You did Jesus in the wilderness!
