We have heard for ourselves.

John 4:39-42, Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.” So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days. And many more believed because of his word. They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world.”

Jesus had astonished this woman at the well by revealing his knowledge of her, in her own words “Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?” Her heartfelt testimony was delivered to her town with the same fervor as Isaiah, who, having his lips touched with a hot coal, said “Here am I, send me.” She didn’t need the understanding of all that Christ has done for us to bring others to hear him. They had enough belief to come and see him, and to believe what they heard for themselves. They all grew in understanding of him as the Savior of the world because of her heartfelt testimony. As he stirs our affections for him, will we share hiis joy with others?

Stir our hearts with this same affection, that others may come and hear for themselves and know that you are indeed the Savior of the world!
