The commandment of God.

Mark 7:5-6, And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?” And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”

This sounds familiar, for today there is too much talk condemning others and not enough walking by faith. How much easier it is to follow the traditions of men than to follow the commandment of God! By his commandment, we are to consider others better than ourselves, to walk as Jesus walked. If we have him only as our example, we are without hope! But fortunately he has given us his promised Holy Spirit, to live within us and to lead and guide us if only we will listen. Are we seeking to fulfill his commandments today?

Give us your divine guidance that we may honor you with our heart and hold to your commandment!
