"Peace! be still!"
Mark 4:39-41, And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
The disciples were afraid of the storm; their faith did not recognize that Jesus had a purpose to fulfill, and that they were called to fulfill a purpose as well. Every breath we take comes under the amazing grace of God, for “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Their fear of the storm was removed as Jesus calmed not only the wind, but the waves also! Now their fear turns towards the one who commands even the wind and the sea. A fear like this recognizes the awesome nature of the one who has such command, builds our faith and results in magnifying his name with worship, as he brings us his peace! “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
We worship you who have set us on a course, you who are with us even in the midst of a storm that will bring glory to your name!
