Some were convinced.
Acts 28:23-26, When they had appointed a day for him, they came to him at his lodging in greater numbers. From morning till evening he expounded to them, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets. And some were convinced by what he said, but others disbelieved. And disagreeing among themselves, they departed after Paul had made one statement: “The Holy Spirit was right in saying to your fathers through Isaiah the prophet: “ ‘Go to this people, and say, you will indeed hear but never understand, and you will indeed see but never perceive.’ ”
One of the great mysteries to us is the calling of God; for no one can come unless the Father calls him. Paul didn’t know, and neither do we, whether or not someone will be called. We are to be like Paul, to tell others of his marvelous gift of faith, and to allow his Holy Spirit to work in the lives of those who are called. We see clearly that some were convinced, and others disbelieved. We need have no fear, for we simply present the written scriptures to others and see if God is pleased to move. How exciting to be used in his marvelous plan of salvation and redemption!
