Their hearts were hardened.

Mark 6:51-52, And he got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were utterly astounded, for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.

Sometimes we think it would be easier if we could see the Red sea part, or be there when the few loaves fed thousands. The real danger is not that we would see, but that our hearts would be hardened, for these were Jesus’ closest disciples. We know that the many signs Moses did before the great Passover and Exodus from Egypt were done because God actually hardened Pharaoh’s heart. May our hearts not be hardened, but be tender toward God!

We pray that our hearts be not hardened stone, but tender hearts of flesh that only you can give, O Lord.
