A multitude of invalids.
John 5:3, In these lay a multitude of invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed.
Jesus heals a crippled man who was there for thirty eight years, and who was really not able to comprehend what Jesus wanted to do for him. What an amazing thing for Jesus to say “Get up, take up your bed and walk,” and for the man to have the faith to do it! We may also wonder about the multitude, why this man, why not everyone who needed healing is not also healed. Jesus is able to see clearly: “For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing.” We are easily distracted by what is temporary in this world, while His focus is on eternal matters. “For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will.” We may easily spend more time in complaining than we do in giving thanks, praying, and seeking to see what the Father is doing!
Come Holy Spirit, give us Your eyes to see what the Father is doing; live through us today to bring Him glory!
