The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
Proverbs 9:8-11, Do not reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you, reprove a wise man, and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser, teach a righteous man, and he will increase his learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added to you.
James tells us that if any of us lacks wisdom, we can ask of God who will give generously. Recognizing His justice and purity can indeed be fearsome until we know more of His great mercy in sending His Son Jesus for us. We have access to His incredible wisdom, and through the prayer James suggests, knowing that He “gives generously and without reproach.”
We ask for Your wisdom in all that we do and say, O Lord; thank You for giving so generously as we ask!
