Two great choirs.

November 6, 2007, Two great choirs.

Nehemiah 12:27-31, Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the Levites from all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem so that they might celebrate the dedication with gladness, with hymns of thanksgiving and with songs to the accompaniment of cymbals, harps, and lyres. So the sons of the singers were assembled from the district around Jerusalem, and from the villages of the Netophathites,, from Beth-gilgal, and from their fields in Geba and Azmaveth, for the singers had built themselves villages around Jerusalem. And the priests and the Levites purified themselves; they also purified the people, the gates, and the wall. Then I had the leaders of Judah come up on top of the wall, and I appointed two great choirs, the first proceeding to the right on top of the wall toward the Refuse Gate.

We probably tend to celebrate the wrong things all too easily in our own culture. Imagine the two great choirs stretched out along the repaired walls of the city singing praises to God! That scene is only surpassed by the great praise offered before His throne that we shall all see one day. Why not make a sacrifice of praise part of every day?

We give You thanks and praise for all that You have done and all that You are going to do; we long to worship before Your throne, face to face one day!
