There are many adversaries.
1 Corinthians 16:8, But I shall remain in Ephesus until Pentecost; for a wide door for effective service has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.
Paul takes it in stride that the great opportunity for effective service brings many adversaries. He just sees it as confirmation that the door for ministry is open! Jesus, having been baptized by John, and proclaimed by the Father and the Spirit as the Son “in whom I am well pleased” goes into the desert to be tempted. Fortunately, the battle is the Lord’s.
We thank You that greater are those who are with us that those who are against us, for even though we have trouble in this world, You have overcome the world!
