Danger every hour?

1 Corinthians 15:30-32, Why are we also in danger every hour? I protest, brethren, by the boasting in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. If from human motives I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what does it profit me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.

There are some who present the gospel of Jesus Christ as some sort of nirvana leading to a completely blessed, prosperous and trouble free life. And there are also those who say that any form of trouble, disease or disaster is an indication of sin in the life of the afflicted. There are those who ascribe every untoward thing to the enemy or a demon. This all flies in the face of the reality of the lives of those apostles of Jesus Christ who like Paul faced persecution and trouble beyond anything most of us have experienced. God is in control, it is His sovereign will that allows us to persevere, and gives Paul His joy even in prison!

We thank You that even though in this world we will have trouble, that You have overcome the world!
