A more excellent way.

1 Corinthians 12:31-13:1, But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And I show you a still more excellent way. If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

We are certainly to desire the greater gifts, and the greatest gift that we have from the Lord is love. Jesus forgave sin, healed the sick, restored sight, opened deaf ears, restored lame limbs and even raised the dead, and He always put the person first. Are we intent upon delivering a message, or upon listening intently to others? Are we only looking for gifts to manifest or are we really looking at other people with the compassion of Jesus?

Lord, we do indeed desire the greater gifts; let us see and hear others as You do.
